Monday, February 2, 2015 is World Wetlands Day.

Tin Can Bay Inlet and Snapper Creek are part of the internationally recognised Great Sandy Strait Ramsar Wetland. There are 65 ramsar sites throughout Australia, with only five of them in Queensland.

Tin Can Bay School is incredibly fortunate to be physically connected to a ramsar site. The celebration will include community and student displays in the hall for everyone to enjoy, artwork, a guest speaker to address participating classes, a tour of the wetlands beyond the oval, and to an important migratory bird roost at 1pm.
