Cooloola Coast Toastmasters Club
Are you scared of speaking in public? Do your knees shake and your tummy quiver at the mere thought of having to make a speech? Then Toastmasters can help.
August was competition month, with our members proving their time with Toastmasters really had taken the fear out of speaking in public.
In the Humorous Competition, Paul had us wondering what else could go wrong as he described an ill-fated trip to the Melbourne Cup, and Marie tried to teach us how to ski as she took us on a hilarious adventure to the snow covered slopes in Europe.
In the International Comp, Marie shared the true meaning of Happiness, while yours truly found a way to duplicate a problem with disastrous results. In the Table Topics (Impromptu Speaking) event, Marie, Patrick and Paul very cleverly handled the question, ‘How could this happen to me?’
Toastmasters International is a world-wide organisation, and as I am writing this, one of our Sunshine Coast members is travelling to Vancouver to compete in the World Championships. Who knows, it could be one of us next year!
We meet twice a month on the second and fourth Mondays at the Tin Can Bay Library at 6.30pm for a prompt 7pm start. For more information contact me on 0400 144 629 – or just come to our meeting and see what we do.
