Ready, set, GO! Nippers season kicks off in October – don’t miss the two sign on days (one in Gympie, one in Rainbow Beach) being held this month.

There is a lot happening this month at the Rainbow Beach SLSC.

During these school holidays we will be holding our Bronze/SRC camp – 18-25 September. This week-long intensive program provides training to our youngest members to become active volunteers patrolling our beach.

Our assessors will be putting them through their paces in: surf, board, and tube rescues; signals; first aid; and beach safety. So if you see them on the beach these holidays please give them your support as they may be saving you one day.

We always welcome new members of any age, so if you are 18 years or older and keen to gain your Bronze Medallion and join our great team, we do offer an external course, designed for adults who can’t commit to a full week off.

The course is an ‘at your own pace’ option, with the theory side of the course being completed at home in your own time and your Practical Training being completed on allotted weekends.

Please contact the club office at surf@rainbowbeachsurf.com.au or 5486 3249 to sign up for either course.

Nipper season starts on 2 October and this month we will be holding our Nipper sign on days on:

  • 10 September at Deep Blue Aquatic in Gympie 12-2pm and on the
  • 17 September at the Rainbow Beach Pool from 10am-12pm.

Here, your Nippers will be able to complete their pre-requisite pool swim and meet your Nipper Volunteers. Membership is now open! You can join by logging on to https://sls.com.au/join/ and following the prompts. If you are an existing member log into your members portal to renew.

Please note there will be no paper membership forms, so please ensure you have completed your membership before your arrival at sign on.

Lastly, the Rainbow Beach SLSC 2022-2023 patrol season begins on 17 September. When you are on the beach, stop by, say hello and thank you to our volunteers, and please remember to swim between the red and yellow flags!
