Rainbow Beach State School May 2022

Our school Anzac service

Our school Anzac service

We have had a very busy start to Term 2, which has already seen a number of key annual events and we have only been back a couple of weeks.

Firstly, it was wonderful to witness so many of our students marching with the school as part of the Anzac Day Parade.

I was so proud of the students for the way they represented our school, their families, and themselves.  Can I also thank our committed staff for their support in ensuring our next generation understands the importance of Anzac Day.

I want to give a couple of special mentions, firstly to Mrs Cherie Mason and her choir who performed beautifully at the school and community services. I continue to be amazed at the way Mrs Mason can bring the talents of our students to the fore.

Secondly, I would like to acknowledge the efforts of all of those year 5/6 students that submitted entries in this year’s Anzac Essay Competition.

Archer Braunberger was voted to have been the winning entry in 2022 with an amazing essay that was both well written and insightful. Archer did a tremendous job reading his essay to those assembled at the Anzac Day service and was an absolute credit to himself, his family, and his school.

We also have managed to host the School Inter-house Cross Country where Cooloola beat Fraser House and took the bragging rights for 2022. It was good to see so many students participating and putting in a great effort.

We had a number of students selected to represent our school and compete at the Gympie District Cross Country based on their competitive times.

In keeping with the sporting theme, we have a number of boys who have been selected in Gympie District Rugby League teams that are preparing to compete in the upcoming Wide Bay Trials.

I would like to congratulate Kai Riehl-Posadowski and Sebastian Sanderson on being selected for the under 10/11 team, and Sonny Bennett on his selection in the under 12 team. All the best boys!

Finally, can I again thank all of our tireless P&C for their contributions and efforts in making Rainbow Beach State School the greatest school.

There are plans being formulated to host a BBQ in coming weeks as an opportunity to meet like-minded families and welcome our new families to the wider school community.

Be sure to keep an eye out for more details as we hope to get everyone along to establish and re-establish connections to Rainbow Beach SS.
