In the Wide Bay area there are nine Probus clubs in Gympie, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, and Bargara. During the year our club members arrange and enjoy their own club’s activities and from time to time have the opportunity to join in activities/events arranged by other clubs.

Recently two of our members, Katrina van den Brenk and Cherryl Mossman, joined the Gympie Probus Club on a day trip to Government House, Brisbane.

It was a very enjoyable day with a tour of the historic building, beautiful landscaped gardens and the stables which now house the Governor’s Rolls Royce and other vehicles. To top it off, the Governor, Dr Jeannette Young, addressed the group, before heading back home via Redcliffe for lunch.

On the local front, members enjoyed lunch at Fraser Grill – a good opportunity to catch up with fellow members and enjoy a delicious lunch.

At our June meeting we were addressed by Lauren King, local health and lifestyle adviser, who spoke to us about exercises to promote better muscle tone and  better physical health and balance, so important for seniors. We are all inspired to follow her tips for simple exercises at home.

Meetings are held on each second Monday of the month at 2pm at the Sandcastle Motel in Tin Can Bay and include a guest speaker and a break for afternoon tea and a chat. For more details please contact our President, Katrina on 0407 637 691 or Secretary, Kaye at cooloolaprobus@gmail.com.
