Are you ready?

Get Ready Week is on from October 10-16, this is the time to start preparing your family and property for the coming storm and cyclones seasons.

In preparation for disasters, the Cooloola Coast Community Local Disaster Support Group held our annual training exercise. The scenario: Fraser Island had to be evacuated due to a fire and that we opened up an evacuation centre at the Rainbow Beach Community Centre.

A large number of our members attended for a great day of training and working with the Gympie Regional Council, the Police Service, the Ambulance Service and Parks and Wildlife.

We also have a stand every month at the Cooloola Cove markets and have lots of information and brochures on how to prepare.

Our next meeting is December 6 at 9.30am at the Cooloola Cove Veterans and Community Hall.
