Cooloola Dragons are ramping things up
Gwyn Moore
The Dragons are preparing to ramp up our training sessions to be ready for the regattas at Lake Kawana in November, December, January and then there are the State Titles in March. There is going to be lots of fun and action on Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings on Snapper Creek in the coming months.
One of our trainee sweeps/steerers has obtained her Level 2 Sweeps Accreditation. Congratulations Linda, great work!
We have two more trainee sweeps working on their hours which will be great to have more sweeps/steerers in our club to control the big oar at the back!!.
One of Tin Can Bay’s well-known characters, Brian Sweeney, moved out of the Bay recently. Brian had long involvement with sailing and was also a dragon boat member for a short period in the club’s early days.
We will miss seeing him sailing past in his Sea-Wind catamaran and will also miss his cheery wave and banter. We always knew when it was cold when Brian had a shirt on! Hope we see him again on the water should he come for a visit.
The dragon boat club will participate with a display at the Cooloola Coast Senior Expo. This is being held in the Cooloola Bowls Club in Tin Can Bay on October 23, 10am to 1pm.
We are a great club for camaraderie and fitness so come along and try.
