Cooloola Coast Local Ambulance Committee May 2023
The Local Ambulance Committee (LAC) recently funded two First Aid Courses, one for members of local community organisations and one for Year 10 pupils from the Tin Can Bay School. The courses were conducted by an accredited Queensland Ambulance Service training officer.
The offer to run the courses was very much welcomed by the community organisations with seventeen people from groups such as the CWA and the RSL attending. The committee would like to thank the Tin Can Bay Country Club for once again providing a room in which to hold the course.
David Arthur from the Tin Can Bay School also expressed an interest in having his students learn First Aid. Eighteen students attended the day-long course which was conducted in the School’s library. Many thanks to Mr Arthur for facilitating this initial event for students.
The participants in both courses will receive a certificate confirming their qualification in the Provide First Aid programme. The course covers many aspects of applying First Aid including a session on CPR. The LAC hopes that this initiative will continue to provide the community with trained First Aid responders in the event of an emergency.
In order to further facilitate access to emergency equipment, the LAC has been requested to compile a list of local establishments that have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on the premises. If you do have an AED on your premises, it would be appreciated if you could email your details to our Secretary, Caroline Taylor (rustay75@hotmail.com).
