Cooloola Coast Art Show and Sale A Success
If you didn’t get over to the Tin Can Bay Country Club between 22-24 July you missed a visual treat!
The Cooloola Coast Art Show and Sale hosted 93 entries that had numerous visitors savouring the visual delight, while pondering on what number would go on their People Choice ballot, or which artwork to purchase to adorn their home or office wall.
The Junior Section was complemented by many artworks from students of the Tin Can Bay P10 State School featuring faces, space scenes, and wombats.
Cr Jess Milne welcomed the crowd on opening night with MC Lizz announcing the winner of Section 1: any medium with the subject ‘In My Backyard’. She congratulated Kate Websdale and her painting entitled ‘The View.’
Judge Anne Yang selected the winner, and commented that it was a “local landscape with interesting pictures within pictures” and showed “beautiful handling of paint, brushwork, texture and line.”
The People’s Choice awards went to Robin Domrow for her ‘Sunset in Tin Can Bay,’ and for the Junior Section the prizes went to Morgan Oliveri (age 7) with ‘The Spring Bouquet’ and Liliaana Kitto (age 10) with her painting ‘Road Trip.’
The Cooloola Coast Art Group would like to thank the sponsors who provided food for the opening night platters: Tin Can Bay Family Butcher, Tin Can Bay Fruit and Veg Market, and Woolworths Cooloola Cove, and the Tin Can Bay Country Club for the venue.
Special mention goes to Pam Graham and Joyce Olsen for providing music to accompany the art on opening night and Kay Muir for the raffle painting that was won by Shirley McLain.
