Year 6 graduate from Rainbow Beach State School
by Michelle Gilmore
The Rainbow Beach Hotel had a warm atmosphere, as the Rainbow Beach State School Year 6 graduates, their parents, and staff marked the end of their primary schooling with dinner, a surprise dance, presentation and a huge cake.
Principal, Micheal Grogan said, “It was a great evening and I would like to thank Ms. McColl, Alice, Sarah Brantz and Kylie Betteridge for organizing and decorating.
Michael also thanked Simon and Renae from the Rainbow Beach Hotel, and all of the businesses and community groups who sponsored bursaries again this year: “It allows us to provide a fitting reward to the wonderful students at our school”.

Teacher Tina McColl said, “I must say it has been a pleasure to teach them over the last year and I’ll will miss them all dearly. I’m sure the whole class joins me in wishing them well on their future endeavours.
“As the leaders of the school you have done a great job in ensuring the younger students have had access to the sports shed each lunchtime, encouraged them through teaching lunchtime sports, taken responsibility of running our Friday parades and helped out with all student council events.
“Good Luck in your high school adventures and please make sure you say hello when you see us around town. Our small school won’t be the same without you!”
The quote Micheal shared with the graduates is one of my favourites too, by Dr. Seuss:
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go. Today is your day. You’re off to great places; you’re off and away.”
