Two Popular Holiday Resorts In Rainbow Beach Welcome New Owners

After seventeen wonderful years managed by the Gilmore family two iconic holiday resorts in Rainbow Beach have new owners.

Katherine Leighton and Michael Yardley opted for a sea change and found idyllic Rainbow Beach to be the perfect spot. The pair relocated to the Nature Coast in January 2022.

“We had been planning something like this for a few years prior” said Michael “When the opportunity presented itself whilst we were in lockdown we both agreed it was the perfect time to make the change”.

Originally hailing from Breakfast Point, an inner west suburb of Sydney located on the Parramatta River, Michael and wife Katherine have an extensive background in IT services, consulting, and solutions.

Although this will be their first foray into the tourism market the couple have researched their new business completely. They bring with them not only a positive new energy but many years of understanding business and marketing.

Just for an added challenge the couple purchased not one but two properties; first of all,  the relaxing Rainbow Getaway Holiday Apartments that are located close to the main shopping precinct and only a short walk to a patrolled surf beach. The property offers a choice of one – three bedroom apartments which are fully self contained.

“The Rainbow Getaway property is very family friendly” said Katherine “There are many facilities available that are geared towards young families”.

A few of those facilities include barbecues in garden settings, a beautiful salt water pool, and children’s play area just to name a few. The resort also offers one bedroom apartments to suit couples who prefer the convenience of being closer to town.

The second property is the stunning Rainbow Ocean Palms Resort.

“We are currently repositioning the marketing of this micro resort”said Michael, “We would like to take it to the next level and make this property a true resort experience”.

A “true resort” experience would include total luxury, cabanas around the pool, and cocktails delivered directly to guests as they soak up the sun. These ideas and changes will take place over a period of time as Michael and Katherine find their feet. .

Ocean Palms will also offer a fine dining restaurant on the premises. Although run separately and independently from Ocean Palms Resort the restaurant will be available to guests.

Michael and Katherine are also currently working on some wonderful packages to make sure their guests have access to all the incredible experiences that Rainbow Beach has to offer.
