The Art of Life Drawing
What is “life drawing”?
We are so fortunate to have so many people in our community who practise art and want to learn more.
Cooloola Coast Art Group supports many aspects. Life Drawing is one activity that I especially appreciate. We have a convenient venue with good natural lighting. And we have an experienced model willing to pose for us fortnightly.
Life drawing, also sometimes known as figure drawing or gesture drawing, is the drawing of the human form in various poses and levels of detail. The model may be clothed or nude.
The drawing can range from highly detailed and anatomically proportional drawings to loose and expressive sketches, to gesture drawings which shows the simple form, action, and pose in a short amount of time.
What are the benefits?
- Improving observation skills to draw what you see. It becomes very relaxing, even meditative, as you become immersed in looking and drawing.
- Letting go of expectations; we’re all learning. We learn from each other by seeing their approach. We laugh a lot and share techniques.
- Exploring the opportunity to try out different media: charcoal, graphite, pens, ink, pastel
Life drawing helps us all to be better at drawing, and it’s a very enjoyable way to spend time with others on a Tuesday afternoon. If you’re interested, contact Robyn on 0419 663 271.
A reminder to all Artists that we will be holding the annual art show this year on the 22, 23, and 24 July 2022 and entry forms will be available from 1 May 2022. For more information contact Kerri 0438 803 990.
