Rainbow Beach centre block was made to dance and celebrate!
Rainbow Beach Spring Fest 2022 Edition aims to pay tribute to DidgeriStu – Stuart Boga Fergie, Oka’s frontman that sadly left us in February 2022.
Stu supported the launch of our roots and cultural first edition in 2021, when against all odds we gifted music lovers with a live music event. He embraced our purpose to bring the community together, by gifting the community with a cultural event for the first time in this part of Butchulla Country, bringing a very much loved genre of music that brings like-minded people together.
It is with heartfelt gratitude, admiration, and respect to this particular artist that we have put in place this year’s vision of the Rainbow Beach Spring Fest.
The event is brought to you by the volunteers of the Rainbow Beach Community Centre not-for-profit association. This year we have the target to raise $5000 for Marley Fergie, Stu’s daughter, once costs are covered.
This is to comply with a wish expressed to us by the music family. We have Marley’s blessing and participation on the weekend, along with her mother Shayne.
Entirely run by volunteers, this ticketed event is family and all-ages friendly. Under 16 have FREE admission, because kids should get more music in their system and their carers deserve this experience.
We aim to put on a cosy event, in line with Rainbow Beach style and vibe.
Location: 32 Rainbow Beach Road, Rainbow Beach. All weather event.
Program: Friday 2 September from 2pm till 9pm will be the Meet & Greet opening, theme ‘Itchy Beats & Oka Treats’.
A sound bath will kick start, with Adam Buchanan as spiritual musical facilitator. Then the Reggae space will be activated, where the old school Jamaican Sound System will make it impossible not to move and dance.
We will be shaking our legs with strong earthy vibes, as we used to dance to the rhythm of Oka Band songs. We are doing this, because Stu’s latest project was to take the Sound System back to Country.
Saturday 3 September attendees will return (same timeframe 2pm till 9pm). The stage will welcome again Aspy Jones and The Lyrical, and will have the honour to launch young promise Tilly Wright, local Aido Van de Vorst, Briannah Grace, Karl S. Williams, and Mama Kin Spender duo.
Tickets are available on line through https://events.humanitix.com/rainbow-beach-spring-fest
If you wish to contribute in any way, please let us know asap to be able to facilitate the request.
