Enjoying scones at our 100th birthday celebration

What an amazing month it has been for our branch, not only did we host a very successful “Sconversation” Morning Tea to celebrate 100 years of community support by members of the QCWA but we also hosted our Division AGM.

Many locals joined us at Cathy House on 11 August for “Sconversation”.

The room was filled with laughter and conversations as those present enjoyed a huge variety of scones. There were raffles and displays of items made by our members as well Kits for Kids, Birthing Kits, and Domestic Violence Kits.

On 13 August we hosted our Division AGM at the Tin Can Bay RSL Hall.

Seventeen branches of the Gympie-South Burnett Division were represented and we also had in attendance our State President Sheila Campbell, our Central State Vice President Tamara Stevenson, Councillor Jess Milne, and Chairman Mr Tony Perrett MP for Gympie with Mrs Michelle Perrett.

Guest Speaker Mr Brendan Hogan, acting CEO of Wishlist Sunshine Coast University Hospital, gave an informative presentation on the many roles of Wishlist.

Competition entries were judged, and following lunch the Cooloola Ukulele Group entertained us, then poems by “Bluey”, and we had another 100th birthday cake to share.

Thank you to all members who assisted in any way in helping make these events such a success. A special mention must be given to our Councillor Jess Milne for the overwhelming support she has given us, as well as her creative Australian animals backdrop at the RSL Hall. Thank you Jess.
