United by their love of music, it was smiles all ‘round as locals and visitors arrived eagerly to the Festival of Small Halls held at the Rainbow Beach Community Hall for the fifth year, the third stop on their yearly Summer Tour.

The Festival of Small Halls is produced by Woodfordia Inc and tours the East Coast of Australia, bringing world class folk artists into tiny halls across the country.

With sausage sizzle and drink in hand (lovingly provided by Hall volunteers) with the promise of tasty cakes by Martine, guests mingled outside with the artists before the show started.

This year brought Tullara and Andrea Kirwin to the Hall, and guests were not disappointed! Our wonderful MC, Lee McCarthy, welcomed local musician Aido Van der Vorst to open the show, surprising the crowd with his raw vocals and guitar playing.

The amazing Tullara followed and blew everyone away with her powerful blues/folk vocals and guitar and banjo playing, and even a cheeky confession on stage! Tullara’s lyrics told tales of life experiences beyond her years. This young woman is one to watch!

Local to the Sunshine Coast, Andrea Kirwin was joined by her beautiful fiancée, Claire Evelynn on the Celtic Harp and soothed us all with her unique voice and warm character, with music reminiscent of 70s island soul, just beautiful.

President of the Community Hall, Elisa Seul says of the evening, “Simply brilliant. I can’t thank enough the volunteers, the performers and the organisers. The biggest thank you goes to everyone that came: the show was for you and your support means a lot to us.”

Now, who’s coming next year!?
