Dance as the narration of a magical story; that recites on lips, illuminates imaginations and embraces the most sacred depths of souls.” – Shah Asad Rizvi

Did you know that World Belly Dance Day is held on the second Saturday in May each year and it was started to promote the idea of belly dancing as an art form?

Make May the month you try out this art form with a free introductory dance session on Monday 9 May so you can shake it at home on the following Saturday.

Soul from the Belly Artistic Director Jess Milne has been using the benefits of belly dance in her everyday life for over 20 years and is looking to restart casual classes to share her passion and knowledge.

‘I started my journey exploring Middle Eastern movement with two left feet and a detachment from my inner awareness. Fast forward to today and I still have two left feet but have developed self-awareness and acceptance that has enabled me to achieve goals in life I never thought possible’ explained Jess.

There will be two sessions held, the first from 1pm to 2pm and the second from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. They will be held at the Emperor St Community Hall at 110 Emperor Street in Tin Can Bay.

All you need to bring is a water bottle, wear comfortable clothing with free movement and have an open mind. Registration is essential as there are limited places.

For more information or to register your attendance please email soulfromthebelly@gmail.com or call/text Jess on 0411 218 254.
