Baitrunner September 2021
Mat Cooper
Hi everyone. Well, it’s been that kinda month – with the snapper and pearl perch closure on, typically, they show up from everywhere. We have been doing our best to avoid them and most days filling up with quality tuskies, husser, sweetlip, cod, reds and of course the pelagic species.
Unfortunately we had quite a few days we could have bagged out the entire boat on 4-6kg snapper and quality perlies, a little frustrating, however great to see 99 percent of these fish swim back down without any trouble.
Now the closure is over we are looking forward to some great snapper sessions on our way out to the wider reefs.
We are currently very heavily booked out, however if you’re up here and interested in heading out, always ring and check as quite a few groups still cannot make it due to restrictions in areas, so you never know your luck.
Remember, if you’re needing to clean and fillet any of your catch, head down to Gardner Fisheries and take advantage of their excellent facilities for only a coin donation, and they are more than happy to help with any advice on the local area.
Till next month.
Cheers Mat
