Applications now open for Get Local Community Grants

Gympie Regional Council is now accepting applications for funding as part of the Get Local Community Grants program.

The Get Local Community Grants program provides community organisations with support to host small-scale events across the region in alignment with Neighbour Day 2022.

Neighbour Day is a national day of celebration which occurs on the last Sunday in March each year. It aims to increase positive and sustainable social connections between people and communities throughout Australia.

Grants of up to $800 are available for eligible events that occur between 16 March and 13 April 2022.

Councillor Dan Stewart says the events that receive funding as part of the Get Local Community Grants program will provide many benefits to our region, including activating our public spaces, supporting local musicians and entertainers, and providing free or low cost events for the community to enjoy.

“Putting on any public event isn’t cheap and the Get Local Community Grants program will help local community groups cover certain costs including venue hire, catering, entertainment, decorations, marketing and promotion, or traffic and waste management.

“I encourage all of our local community organisations to submit an application and start planning your Neighbour Day celebrations today,” he said.

Applications close on Sunday, 19 December 2021.
