Happy FIFTH anniversary and congratulations to the ‘One Step at a Time Tin Can Bay’ Heart Foundation Walking Group.

The Walk start date is recorded as 15 August 2017. Since then several people have left our community, and many more have moved in and joined our cheerful, happy, supportive, fun group, who mostly continue chatting over a cup of coffee at the Tin Can Bay Bakery after our walks!

We still have two foundation members, Joan Barnier and Linda Murphy, participating in our walks here on the Cooloola Coast. Well done!

I was looking at a photo taken in December 2018 of the walkers, and all but one of the group of nine plus several four-footed fur family members still actively participate. Since then, and particularly after our COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were lifted, our group’s numbers more than tripled.

Congratulations to the following members of ‘One Step at a Time Tin Can Bay’ for achieving your goals and receiving awards: Robyn Adam and Linda Fewtrell for your first 25 Walks; Verna Newman for your first 50 walks recorded with our group; and Melissa Haslam for your first 100 walks. Check your letter boxes!

The Tin Can Bay walkers meet Wednesdays and Saturdays outside the Tin Can Bay Bakery: Early group now that it is spring, leaves at 6.30am, the later group at 7am. Sometimes within these two groups, several people, accompanied by a Walk Organiser, will walk in a different direction, or take a shorter route.

Cooloola Cove Wheelie Walkers meet at 9am on Mondays and Fridays at the Nautilus Drive Bus Shelter outside the Cooloola Cove Shopping Centre. Queries? Contact Judy Kiddle 5486 2181 or myself on 0400 756 615. We too, love to sip on our coffee and chatter.

Why don’t you join us?

Walk Yourself Happy!  It’s free, fun and a great way to improve our physical, mental, social, and emotional health.
