Over the last month we have experienced reasonable conditions offshore for this time of the year. Light to moderate northerlies, followed by short south-easterly changes have been the norm.
The northerly current run offshore has been a problem on most days, but closer to shore, fishing was a lot easier. Our main catches on the wider grounds have included snappery squire, parrot, hussar, amberjack, Maori cod, mahi mahi, pearl and Moses perch.
The closer reefs have produced mainly pearl perch, Moses perch, squire, parrot and sweetlip. Rainbow Beach Fishing will not be operating on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.
Please book a few days in advance if you would like to take a trip out. Our normal departure time is between 5 and 5.15am and returning around 4pm. Printed vouchers are available for a special gift for loved ones.
