Carpobrotus glaucescens (Pig Face) produces a fleshy edible fruit after flowering

May we suggest adding Bush Tucker plants, indigenous to this area, to your garden?

  • Austromyrtus dulcis – Midyim. Shrub to 50cm. Pretty white flowers spring to autumn followed by edible mauve white speckled berries.
  • Carpobrotus glaucescens – Pig Face. Fleshy creeper growing on sand dunes. Flowers in summer months followed by reddish, edible, and fleshy fruit.
  • Dianella caerulea – Flax Lily. Tufting plant to 1.8m. Bright blue flowers with yellow anthers followed by shiny dark blue edible berries.
  • Syzygium. Many bear edible fruit good for jam making and good hedge plants. Not all species available at present.
