May is Eat Local month in the Gympie Region and the signature event is the 5 Chefs’ Long Table Dinner with chef Matt Golinski
Gympie Regional Council invites you celebrate each May with the finest local food and produce during Eat Local Month: GourMAY!
Here on our coast make the most of our delectable seafood, enjoy a long lunch at our cafes and restaurants or dine out and ask them ‘what’s local’?
Chef Matt Golinski, our Food Ambassador, is an inspiring part of GourMAY and encourages you to create your own paddock-to-plate experience, with cooking demonstrations and tempting foodie events. With long table lunches, picnic trains, growers markets and delicious, local seasonal produce, GourMAY is a month not to be missed!
Make your experience unique by visiting local farms, attending talks and workshops and tasting the range of signature dishes on offer at participating local restaurants and cafes.

May 4-5 Cooloola Farm Trail
Pick your ideal farm gate destination Gympie and Noosa, meet producers and learn more about their product direct from the farm, 9am to 4pm.
No bookings required. Please wear closed-in shoes, bring a hat and sunscreen, and respect the family farm you visit:

May 5 Big Rosella Festival
Come along to the annual one-of-a-kind festival and celebrate all things Rosella! Showcasing Rosella (Hibiscus) fruits grown at Petersen’s Farm Woolooga, 45km NW of Gympie.
You’ll see more than 5,000 Rosella plants ready for picking. There will be farm walks/tours, cooking demonstrations with chefs Jason Ford, James Barnden, Valerie Ferninands and CC Diaz-Petersen using fresh ‘straight from the farm’ produce.
CC’s Kitchen’s Fine Food Products and Petersen’s Farm produce available for sale. Plants and food stalls. It is $5 per person, children under 12 free, and open 9am to 4pm at Petersen’s Farm, 2 Reilly Road, Woolooga.
May 25 Mary Valley Farm Tour
Come on a journey through the Mary Valley and visit a range of farms specialising in organic beef, free-range pork, grass-fed eggs, avocadoes, honey, and more. Bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, wear comfortable shoes and your sense of adventure! Held 9am to 3pm, phone Kandanga Farm Store on 0428 776 348 for details.
May 25 5 Chefs’ Long Table Dinner
The signature event of Eat Local Month is the 5 Chefs’ Long Table Dinner which sees Matt Golinski lead a team of local chefs to present a five-course degustation experience featuring the best of Gympie region produce.
May 26 Goomeri Pumpkin Festival
An event-filled day of entertainment, fun and frivolity will again be offered at the annual Goomeri Pumpkin Festival. Join the thousands of people who flock to the small town of Goomeri for a day of great pumpkin fun. In 2019, look forward to some great entertainment including the legendary Great Australian Pumpkin Roll™.
