Council Corner July 2022

Recycle Well

Dealing with waste through the three Rs of reduce, reuse and recycle is effective if done well.

Unfortunately there have been truckloads of recycling sent to landfill due to contamination of non-recyclable materials which can not be sorted at the MRF (materials recovery facility).

Brush up on your recyclable items knowledge by saving the A-Z Recycling Index from Council’s website or downloading the Waste Wise app.

Go Paper Free with Rates

Did you know that you can opt to receive your rate notice via email only?

All notices are sent electronically (if email address is supplied) and by hard copy letter unless you request to go digital only.

To opt in to this paper saving initiative, either reply to the original email your rates notice is sent from or send your rates reference number to rates@gympie.qld.gov.au and request to receive notices by email only.

Don’t Be a Nuisance

Did you know that environmental impacts such as smoke, light, noise, odour, and dust can be considered a nuisance and be the base of complaints that can be investigated?

Fact sheets on how to better understand how these nuisances are investigated and measures you can take to mitigate the impact on neighbours will be available on Council’s website from July.

Get Physical

After nearly two years of delays the renewal of the exercise equipment in Wes Mitchell Park in Tin Can Bay is finally coming to fruition.

The existing equipment is at end of life and the new compact fitness station will be relocated to near the playground. There will be a combination of both static and dynamic equipment to work out the whole body.
