TCB Fishing Club update September 2022

The Club recently changed the way in which the monthly fishing competition is run, and in August we held our inaugural monthly presentation and training day. Approximately 40 members attended the event enjoying a BBQ in the Club’s gazebo.

Club members Jon Constable and Dan Lyell demonstrated the use of various squid jigs and fishing lures as well as the techniques involved in their use.

The winner of the July club competition was Ian Nowell with a really nice 89cm cod; in total he took out the top 3 points-scoring fish for the month.

While speaking of catching fish and squid, members have reported good catches of whiting and flathead, with the squid now making their presence known in the bay with some in the 30cm+ mark being caught.

I mentioned in our August article that the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) sponsored workshops would have been finalized before the article was published so I have included some shots from the last event held for participants 18+. This was an enjoyable day with 20 people in attendance, albeit it was a very cold day at Norman Point.

Tight lines everyone – Cheers.
