Support local this festive season!

With Christmas fast approaching, our thoughts turn to loved ones, friends, and family, and how we can best show them our affection and gratitude for all they mean to us.

Why not celebrate your love by giving them a thoughtful, locally-sourced gift from our vibrant area. And what better way to help our local businesses thrive through recent challenging times than to keep our support home-grown and here in our very own community.

From our neighbours and families who share our beautiful region, to loved ones distant geographically but always close to our hearts, here are some ideas for the perfect gifts and experiences this Christmas.

A great place to source unique pressies is at our local markets – the second Saturday of each month for Rainbow Beach (next one held 11 December), and the third Saturday of each month for Tin Can Bay (next one on 18 December) . You never know what you might find for the hard-to-buy-for loved one, and you can’t go wrong with a one-of-a-kind market find.

Sometimes the best gift is just time with each other to relax, have a scrumptious meal, and enjoy each other’s company with a drink or two at our very own Rainbow Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. Boasting beautiful sea breezes and gorgeous vistas of the ocean, it is the perfect place for a Christmas catch-up with friends and family.

The Tin Can Bay Country Club also serves as the perfect spot for a friendly, festive holiday get-together. Choose from their authentic Chinese food selection, and/or from their classic Aussie favourites on their much-loved menu.

Also a gorgeous place to spend time with our nearest and dearest during the New Year celebrations is Tin Can Bay’s Bar and Grill at the Marina. With spectacular views across the water, you can choose delicious meals from their a la carte options, and enjoy a relaxing tipple from their extensive fully-licensed bar.

Another fabulous option is the Rainbow Beach Sports Club, where you can wind-down on their open-air deck and spend some quality time with others all whilst enjoying a range of delicious entrees, fresh local seafood, and sizzling steaks. And because there’s always room for dessert, you won’t go away disappointed with what’s on offer for your sweet tooth!

For the handy-person around your house, or a friend who’s found a passion for DIY, pop into the Cooloola Mitre 10 at Tin Can Bay for a gift they’ll treasure.

For the camping and fishing enthusiast in your life, head on into Rainbow Beach Fishing & Camping. Maybe if they bag a big one they’ll share it with you! A beautifully-grilled fish with friends, or a few nights under the stars camping with friends in our beautiful National Parks, sounds like the perfect way to connect with each other over the holiday break.

These are just a few small suggestions – a quick flick through this issue will show you that we have so many other amazing small businesses in town, make sure you support them this festive season!

Whatever you do to celebrate this Christmas, we encourage you to support your local community and enjoy what makes this area unique and so very “us”.
