Melaleuca thymifolia

This shrub, also known as thyme-leaf honey myrtle, grows to 1m.

A popular native shrub chosen for its attractive flowers and general adaptability for a small garden.

It thrives with little attention in wet conditions and most soils and is usually free from pests and disease.

Flowers may be purple to mauve, pink or white, but purple dominates in the wallum. Flowering usually occurs spring to summer in clusters on semi-hardwood at tips of branches  Seed clusters may be pruned to encourage branching, making a more compact bush.

If you do not wish to collect your free trees for rate notices, you might consider asking the City Farm staff to put them aside for the Tin Can Bay or Rainbow Beach schools. They would be appreciated.
