Local Probus Clubs Mix Well Together

Quay Carlo was a lovely venue to relax

Our members invited members of the Gympie Probus Club to join us for a trip on the Tin Can Bay Ferry to have lunch at Quay Carlo in July. Twenty of us gathered at the Tin Can Bay Yacht Club to await the ferry before heading off in ideal weather for a very enjoyable day, with lots of opportunity to chat, laugh, and relax.

Guest Speaker at our July meeting was Simon Kinchington of the Gympie Regional Council Planning Office who spoke of the new planning scheme for our region which is in its early planning stages at present.

After his PowerPoint presentation, members had the opportunity to comment and ask questions. Simon encouraged members  to contact Council with their ideas within the next month or so, as the plan needs to reflect the community’s needs and wants, and so Council can understand what is important to our residents.

Our normal monthly morning tea was held at BayPress in the Dolphin Centre and members travelled to the Gympie RSL for a relaxing morning and lunch, and some dancing, at Morning Melodies, with Billy Guy being the entertainer on the day. Some members have chosen, and are practicing, a couple of acts to present at the Combined Probus Friendship Day to be held at the Brolga Theatre in September.

Meetings are held on each second Monday of the month at 2.00pm at the Sandcastle Motel in Tin Can Bay. We welcome new members. Contact Cherryl on 0409 044 100 or Katrina at cooloolaprobus@gmail.com
