Christmas Donations Still Needed for Rainbow Beach DroughtRunners

As I mentioned last month, there are now many areas in Queensland that don’t need our help which is wonderful news, but we still have some pockets that are in need.

My contact down Warwick way where we have sent many vouchers and hampers reports that they are OK.

As I write I am waiting on the School of Distance Education in Longreach to get back to me about our Christmas run and how many families need help.

This last month we helped the Fencing for Fires Team with $1000 to build a laneway on a farm in northeast Victoria. The farm owner has been recovering from breast cancer and had tragically lost her husband so now she can muster her cattle by herself.

Another thing we do is put people onto the Drought Community Outreach Program run in conjunction with Rotary Australia.

This month many thanks to Wayne Kerle who sorts all our bottle and can donations at Bayside Auto in Tin Can Bay, Leena and Steve who are always donating food items, and to those anonymous people who donate to the Cooloola Coast Realty office near Woolies. Also thank you to all that drop a coin into our collection tins with last week $120 from Mitchells Fruit and Goomboorian fuels.

For our Christmas run we have some great toy donations from Tin Can Bay people but are in need of more presents for kids and also more Christmas cakes even though we bought another 24 from Lions this month.

Once again thank you all for your continuing help, and it’s hard to believe we have been going for six years.
