Bruce, Marie, Carolyn, Mary and Fiona enjoying friendly banter while strategising their chess moves at the Men’s Shed!
by Tin Can Bay Community and Men’s Shed
Okay chess lovers – here’s an invitation to you to make the next move and join Mary and her loyal subjects on Friday mornings, commencing January 8, for an interesting and challenging game of chess!
If you’re a knight in shining armour or a mere pawn, you’ll be welcomed by eager and varied opponents to test your skills and while you’re at it, you’ll be making new friends.
So come along alone or with a friend, all welcome. Gold coin donation for morning tea and chess boards supplied.
And while chess is happening in the social area, the rest of the Shed will be buzzing with wood turning classes, individuals completing their own projects, community projects being undertaken and impromptu conversations popping up here and there.
It’s a great community of like-minded men and women getting together to use and enjoy Shed facilities as they pursue their hobbies and learn new skills in a supportive and happy environment.
With ‘The Shed’s’ main focus being the promotion and improvement of Men’s mental health and physical wellbeing, it is also focused on providing facilities and services to the community at large, with an emphasis on social activities.
Membership costs less than $1 per week and allows access to and use of all facilities once safety inductions have been carried out. So if you need a shed to escape to now and then, come along to join ours.
You can inspect our facilities, enjoy a cold drink and nibble on a sausage at the next Shed Shop Sale Day on January 16, where hand-crafted goods made at The Shed will be available for sale. Watch out for the flags/signage at the Complex.
