For those fishos who have been hanging out for this, the date for the next Seniors (18+) training day has now been set as Sunday 24 July. We have 20 places available for the day. See page 24 for details and how to book.

As with the Juniors Days entry is free and every participant receives some great gear courtesy of funding from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and sponsored by The Chandlery Bait and Tackle, Tin Can Bay.

Our Juniors Days were booked out within a matter of days after the dates were announced, so get in quick.

On the fishing front club members have reported some good catches of winter whiting, flathead, and mud crabs in the bay. Those who fished the outside waters report metre-plus cobia, mac and bluefin tuna, mulloway, and tusk fish.

This next tip is courtesy of our Club Member Kevin Armstrong:

‘If you are looking for some light gear fun while also building up your bait supply. Consider using small lures around moorings, pontoons, and other similar structures.’

Kevin has caught plenty of pike using this method, especially on a late afternoon flood tide. He has also had success on slower tides fishing patches of rubble through the Straits; also switching it up using multi-hook rigs.

That’s it from me, have a safe time on and near the water and remember if you have any queries, please feel free to contact us by email tcbfishingclub@bigpond.com or phone us on 0437 242 171. There’s also our web site and Facebook page if you want to check us out.

ED NOTE: Huge apologies for the confusion last month with leaving out the notice for the Kids Fishing Day. That was 100% my error and TCB Fishing Club has kindly forgiven me!
