Table tennis fourth and final competition for 2018 is underway in a new format where all players play two singles and two doubles games in the 6 to 8.30pm timeslot. Doubles partners are selected by the draw, so players have different partners every week, and also get to play all the other competitors in singles over the five week competition.

Two groups of 12 competitors, graded level one or level two, are battling for glory, and despite some initial misgivings about the new arrangements, are now enjoying the extra competition experience.

The new format means players are spending more time playing and watching games, which has provided more opportunity for mentoring, support and general barracking.

Wednesday morning table tennis remains popular, and provides an excellent opportunity for some exercise and social engagement, 9 to 11am Wednesday mornings.
