We were looking forward to exploring our January venue, the picnic at the park at the end of Bayside Road Cooloola, but the heat wave we experienced in the middle of the month made us all a little apprehensive about the weather.

Fortunately the weather forces were with us. A 30ml very early morning shower cooled the air, so we were able to really enjoy the morning tea there.

The tides were also on our side: a very high tide made swimming pleasant, although only one of our group decided to enjoy the water. As she demonstrated, it’s fun to walk about thirty metres up the creek and then float or swim down into the bay.

We were also treated to a very pleasant bayside walk which continues along the bay away from the creek through a bird habitat and past a midden. A great place to revisit in the cooler months.

In December we mourned the passing of two of our long-term members, Noel Duigan and Murray Johnston. Doug and Annette Collins also lost their eldest son Tony, and our thoughts and prayers are with Val, Margaret, Doug and Annette, and Tony’s wife, Di.

Join us for coffee, BBQ or and early morning swim – see the What’s On page for details.
