Well it’s been another typical March with wet and windy conditions along with large swell not allowing for many trips outside.

We have managed only a couple of trips and had great days once out, with a healthy mixed bag for the crews consisting of Pearl Perch, Moses Perch, Red Emperor, Trout, Wrass, Husser, Sweetlip, Cod and some great quality Snapper and Parrot.

Cobia, AJs, Mackerel and Trevally have also been providing some arm stretching fun.

Looks like all this rain has got mud crabs active and on the move and with the competition Gardiner Fisheries has running currently,  it’s easy to keep an eye on what is being caught.

The beach gutters have been holding some great whiting this month. I have managed a few sessions myself on the run-out tides, fishing shallow water with great results and quality.

One whiting went 45cm – an absolute horse. Well that’s about it for this month, fingers crossed this weather settles and we are back in full swing again soon.

Cheers Mat
