The Memorial surf classic was held by the Rainbow Beach Boardriders Club at Double Island Point.

This is an event that the community looks forward to at the end of each year, with previous members of the Boardriders attending to remember lost loved ones over the years.

Rainbow Beach may be changing, but this is something we can hold onto and keep the same.

There were great conditions for the day with the crew stating that the waves could always be bigger, but “they will do!”

With 40 entries for the day and the families there for support, we had just over 100 in attendance, ready to kick start the day with a surf.

A big thank you to the community of Rainbow beach for supporting this event.  We’ve also had donations from 7th Wave, Shell, Information Centre, Golden Breed, Sports Club, Food Works, Kylie’s Hair Salon and  Buckaroo Horse Rides.

Rainbow Beach Meats contributed to the shirts, and Ed’s bakery supplied bread all year for all events.

Our new local Brian handing out stock from his old surf shop has been amazing, and thank you to the National Parks for the camp grounds every year. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

The overall  winners for this year’s Memorial surf Classic are

  • Opens Jimmy Badcock
  • Masters  Ben Otton
  • Old Farts Pete Croker
  • Cadets  Kyani Parton
  • Women’s BJ Parton
  • Junior Girls  April Summers
  • Junior Boys Rory Mick

See you all at the next one!
