Guests were introduced to the new executive of the QCWA Tin Can Bay branch last month. In true QCWA style there was an array of nibbles with also a splash of wine, seeing as it was a special occasion.

Incoming President, Joan Barnier, welcomed representatives from the various community groups, as well as Tony Perrett and Mark McDonald, with a rundown of the QCWA history, branch projects and her visions of the future.

The QCWA has taken on the role of organising Heart Foundation Walking Groups. Participants have been pounding the pavement for the last couple of weeks, making regular physical exercise fun and enjoyable. Walkers participate at their own pace and dogs are welcome if they are on a leash. The three groups are:

One Step at a Time – Tuesday 7am meeting at the Cafe to the Max, Tin Can Bay

Cooloola 2 Steps – Thursday 4.30pm meeting at the Woolworths bus stop, Cooloola Cove

Saturday Steppers – Saturday 7am meeting at the Black Cockatoo, Tin Can Bay

HOY continues, and if you have ever wanted to play a game that is ‘better than bingo’ then come on down. Held every third Wednesday of the month at the QCWA meeting room, 18 Whiting St, Tin Can Bay. $5 entry will get you a lucky door ticket, HOY board, morning tea and hours of fun.

HOY uses playing cards in a game of random chance that your cards will be called first to yell ‘HOY’ and claim a prize. Morning tea starts at 9am with games beginning at 10am.

Participants can register online at www.walking.heartfoundation.org.au or for more information on any of these activities call Joan on 54 864 640 or 0488 979 241.
