Probus Welcomed Little Haven in June
Bronwyn McFarlane, a long-time worker at Little Haven, spoke at our June meeting, with fund-raising Raffle Queen, Diana Harris, at her side. What a wonderful service this is to the community!
A free at-home hospice service, Little Haven Palliative Care annually supports about 350 people with terminal illness in Gympie and surrounding districts.
Palliative care provides for the well being and comfort of the person over the duration of his/her illness, and also supports the family and carers of the terminally ill person.
At our next meeting on 11 July, a speaker from the Gympie Regional Council will deliver a short, informal presentation about the current planning scheme project to incorporate the community’s needs and wants. Council needs to understand what is important to residents so this will be a chance to air your views and ask questions about it.
Apart from our meetings and monthly morning teas together, activities in the coming months include a ferry trip to Quay Carlo; Morning Melodies at Gympie RSL and at the Brolga Theatre; celebrating Christmas in July; and joining with other Probus Clubs for Barefoot Bowls and lunch at the Tin Can Bay Country Club in August, and also the Probus Wide Bay Friendship Concert at Maryborough RSL in September.
Meetings are held on each second Monday of the month at 2.00pm at the Sandcastle Motel in Tin Can Bay. We welcome new members. Contact Cherryl on 0409 044 100 or Katrina at cooloolaprobus@gmail.com.
