Watch Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time under the stars, on January 18

There will be a Movies in the Park night on Friday January 18 on the grass alongside the hall – free entry, with popcorn, ice-cream and barbecue stalls in attendance. Bring your rugs, chairs, kids and families and watch Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time under the stars, courtesy of Gympie Regional Council.

Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles Wallace, have been without their scientist father, Mr. Murry, for five years, ever since he discovered a new planet and used the concept known as a tesseract to travel there.

Joined by Meg’s classmate, Calvin O’Keefe, and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs Whatsit, Mrs Who and Mrs Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all of the evil in the universe.

A Craft Vintage and Recyclables Fair is planned for January 12, with table bookings at the centre. Have a new year clean out and sell your gear. There’s local crafted wares, secondhand books, jams and chutneys – you never know what may turn up. Make sure you pop in and grab a bargain, or sample some of the yummy offerings on the morning!

The Rainbow Beach Community Centre reopens January 7 after the festive season break. The Centre has received a grant from Gympie Council’s Community Assistance Grants Program to upgrade the hall floor, and work is expected to be completed before the Centre reopens.
