The Tin Can Bay Mother’s Day Classic is back on the annual calendar so mark Sunday 8 May as the day to lace up your finest walking shoes, deck yourself out in pink and join the MDC movement in a walk/run along the Tin Can Bay foreshore.

The Mother’s Day Classic is an annual fundraiser for breast cancer research and is the largest single donor to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, with nearly $40 million donated since 1998. The NBCF has raised over $181 million to fund 557 world-class breast cancer research projects in Australia, all thanks to generous community fundraisers like the MDC.

Since 1994, the 5-year breast cancer survival rate has increased from 76% to 91.5% – statistical proof that research is making a difference. But there is still a long way to go before women stop losing their lives to breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia with 1 in 7 women diagnosed in their lifetime. Incidence of breast cancer in men is also on the rise with 1 in 700 men diagnosed in their lifetime. We all know someone who has been affected in one way or another.

To sign up for this worthy event jump onto the Mother’s Day Classic website and find Tin Can Bay under Local Events in Queensland.

Register before 1 May to secure the standard entry fee and set up a fundraiser to help the event more or why not get a team together!
