“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing… about in boats — or with boats.”

Rat (from The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame) is right, there is nothing as good as messing about in boats and having fun on the water. It doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or an experienced sailor, enjoying yourself on the waters of Tin Can Bay is what matters.

At the Yacht Club you can have a casual sail, take a day cruise, anchor, swim and have a picnic or have a longer cruise in the Sandy Straits. If you want a bit of competition, you may wish to join in the Sunday races.

Don’t know how to sail? Maybe you would like to come along and have a try. If you decide you would like to learn more, courses can be arranged to suit individual needs.

For juniors, sailing courses are run in the school holidays for those (aged 6-16 years) who would like to learn to sail. The emphasis is on having fun and being safe on the water. Oh, and learning to sail, of course.

There is not only sailing at the Yacht Club, Dragon Boat paddling and Sailability are affiliated clubs.

Perhaps you’d just like to sit and relax on the deck and watch the activities without ever getting your feet wet, social membership is available.

Come and join us in the post Covid-19 era!
