Mayor Ron Dyne Resigns due to illness
Gympie Regional Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ron Dyne tendered his resignation at today’s Council meeting. Cr. Dyne’s resignation will be effective from 19 December 2014 and Cr. Tony Perrett will be Acting Mayor until a by-election is held within the next three months.
Cr. Dyne was the first elected mayor of the amalgamated Gympie Regional Council and has close to fifteen years in local government service.
In tendering his resignation, Cr. Dyne expressed his profound regret at not being able to continue in his role due to the effects of cancer and thanked his fellow councillors, Council staff, the community and his family for their support and well wishes during his illness.
