Little Athletics duo make the coast proud at state level

Little Athletics - Logan and Anjie give the grounds a big thumbs up!

The Little Athletics annual relays are a unique competition as they are the only time participants are able to compete in a team. Relays are run in a team of four while the selected field events for each age group are either jumped or thrown in pairs.

As the Cooloola Coast is classified a small centre, those wanting to compete could combine with other small centres. Logan Smith and Anjelica Geurts qualified for the state level and travelled to the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre in Nathan, Brisbane last month.

Anjie was teamed with three other girls from the Maroochy centre and ironically both dentre uniforms were very similar with blue and white. Unfortunately, the team didn’t place in the relay finals, but the comradery between the girls was fantastic and the experience unforgettable.

Logan was teamed with an athlete from Bli Bli for the boys U13 shot put. Both the boys threw their best however the competition was fierce with the team placing 5th overall.

Well done for taking the Cooloola Coast Centre to State level and thanks to the families for investing time and effort in taking them along.
