For most that think of the term ‘CWA’ the first thing that comes to mind is scones and ‘little old ladies’ having a chin wag. The Country Women’s Association originally began after WW1 as a way for women to have similar comradery that the men shared. This concept has grown to encompass an empowering movement that has taken the world by storm.

Yes scones still make an appearance; even the ‘rock cake’ efforts are giggled about (although would never win a cooking competition,) and the ‘chin wag’ over a nice hot cuppa is definitely a core part of morning tea but the concept of ‘little old lady’ is a modern day myth.

QCWA members are made up of all walks of life from different backgrounds and varying abilities. There is only one common thread among the ladies – fun! The drive to have a good time, maybe try something new, get out of the house for a few hours, keeps smiles on dials all round.

So if you are going into 2019 feeling a little isolated and wanting to meet a few new faces, maybe looking to expand your skill set with the vast competition opportunities QCWA offers or just wanting a safe place to just be yourself then come along to the many events that the QCWA Tin Can Bay Branch offers.

Coffee, chat and craft morning teas, HOY games, community service activities and various other social opportunities all await!
