It’s Fishing Comp time again!

Every July the mighty Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic sets up camp for a week of weigh-ins, tall stories and some mighty good fisherpeople.

The event has now been running for32 years and commences this year on July 19 through to the big finale on Saturday July 27.

Traditionally a family event and a good excuse for a week off, the RBFFC will also include live entertainment, sporting activities, a carnival atmosphere and a lot of very exciting prizes.

Now hosted by the Rainbow Beach Sports Club, who recognise the importance of ensuring the event remains sensitive to family affordability, environmental sustainability and with an emphasis on participation.

With four major classes of fishing – Beach, Reef, Jew and Big Fish – all levels of fishing experience are catered to. The event is expected to attract upwards of 700 competitors and thousands of spectators.

While the event is a wonderful opportunity for locals and tourists to mingle and enjoy each other’s company and expertise, others are convinced they are going to take out a big one this year.
