Holiday Fun set to start at Gympie Regional Libraries

Cartoon DaveHoliday Fun is set to start at Gympie Regional Libraries.  School Holidays are almost here and Gympie Regional Libraries have a packed program guaranteed to keep littlies, schoolkids and their carers entertained right throughout the break.

First up is the LEGO™ competition, open to children of all ages, which will be held on Tuesday 28 June from 10.30 to 11.30 am. It’s a 45 minute race against the clock, where you can bring along your own LEGO and build something truly fantastic. The competition is free to enter, with bookings essential.

This holiday period sees the return of “Cartoon Dave” Hackett, who has now taught cartooning to over 150,000 children in schools, libraries, literature festivals and through newspapers and magazines across the country. Dave has been cartooning on TV shows around the world over the past three decades, and is currently seen on Channel Eleven’s Toasted TV. Cartoon Dave will be running a workshop at Gympie Library from 10.30 to 11.30am on Thursday 30 June, and at Tin Can Bay Library from 2 to 3 pm on the same day.

There will also be holiday craft sessions at all library branches throughout the Gympie region. Here you can learn how to make Hang Ups, using clothes pegs to create a peg doll, a peg pirate, a lizard, a crocodile, a fridge magnet or something totally creative of your own design. Times for these funfilled sessions can be found at holidayfun.com.au.

There will also be a number of First5Forever storytelling and craft sessions, where parents are invited to come along with their children, listen to favourite stories and become involved in a range of activities and crafts.

Times and locations are available from the libraries’ websites and at each local library branch. No matter what your family’s interest, Gympie Regional Libraries staff are confident they have an event to keep you involved, fulfilled and active during the coming Winter break.
