Heart Foundation Walking

As Walk Organiser Judy Kiddle says, “We never know what adventures may happen during our walk.”

Recently, as the Cooloola Cove Wheelie Walkers were walking and rolling along Creekside Esplanade pathway, we were joined by an exuberant, cheerful young dog enjoying her illicit freedom. Fortunately her worried neighbour met us and transferred our new friend into his car to return home.

Another morning I was driving past the Tin Can Bay School on my way to meet the CCWW, thinking “No need to stop at the school crossing; it’s school holidays”, when the 4×4 vehicle in front slammed on the brakes. Then I see emerging a (parent) duck, followed by two ducklings, using the school crossing! I laughed all the way to the Shopping Centre Bus Shelter on Nautilus Drive.

“One Step at a Time Tin Can Bay” gained seven new members, two of whom are men, who now number thirteen. (Total active membership, 46). Early group departs from Tin Can Bay Bakery at 6am led by Denise and Kate, Wednesdays and Saturdays; the later group leaves at 6.30am with Kristine, Bev, and myself.

“Cooloola Cove Wheelie Walkers” continue to meet at 8am on Mondays and Fridays at the Cooloola Cove Shopping Centre Bus Shelter on Nautilus.  Queries? Contact Judy Kiddle 5486 2181 or myself.

Congratulations to Judy K, Carmel, and Des for achieving 25 walks; to Ingrid, Margie, and Sylvie for your 50 walks; and to Walk Organiser, Kate Gregory for your first 100. Award Certificates and vouchers are in the mail. Kate also receives a commemorative Heart Foundation Walking pin.

International Women’s Day is on Tuesday 8 March. Maybe another Twilight Walk that evening?

Walk Yourself Happy!  It’s free, fun and a great way to improve our physical, mental, social, and emotional health.  Maggie Travers, Walk Organiser, 0400 756 615.
