Our Plant of the Month for August 2021 is Myoporum acuminatum. This is a shrub up to 1.5m growing in sandy or rocky coastal areas and commonly known as Boobialla.

The white flowers appear in clusters most of the year followed by small purple fruit, a treat for many birds.

This is a hardy plant, easily propagated from cuttings, will grow in full sun and can tolerate salt spray. It is common along the Cooloola Coast and on K’gari [Fraser Island].

Cooloola City Farm Nursery is a cash-only organisation but this will change soon, located opposite the Community Centre on Tin Can Bay Road and is open 8am-3pm, Tuesday – Thursday. Call: 07 5486 2304, email: ccfni09@gmail.com or visit: cooloolacityfarm.org
