The Gympie Region Volunteers Centre supports volunteers and respective organisations with networking, management skills and training. Carley O’Donnell coordinates the Centre and is always keen to assist wherever she can.

A request for affordable first aid training on the Cooloola Coast resulted in a subsidised course being held at the Cooloola Cove Veterans and Community Hall last year.

Expressions of interest are now being taken for another course for volunteers and volunteer managers to be held in 2020. For those who just need a CPR refresher, this is also catered for.

Carley also hosts Cooloola Connect meetings which are a great way to network with fellow volunteers and other organisations. They are open to all volunteers on the Cooloola Coast and are held every three months at the Tin Can Bay RSL.

Focusing on creating stronger communities, Carley encourages every organisation to send a representative to enable inclusiveness of the whole area.

Meetings kick off in March and are held the second Wednesday from 10am -12noon. There are guest speakers, open discussion and knowledge networking where everyone walks away having learnt something new.

To register interest for first aid or Cooloola Connect meetings contact Carley at volunteer@chsn.org.au or call 0408 992 822.
