Little eco warriors revegetate and explore the Tin Can Bay foreshore reserve

There’s nothing better as a kid than being outside and getting dirty, so the Friends of the Cooloola Foreshore kindy kids nature morning had nothing but smiles all round.

Little eco warriors from the Kids Bizz Early Education Centre and local Gympie District Family Daycare providers came together to explore the Tin Can Bay foreshore reserve. Led by Jess Milne on a discovery of natural wonders, beauties were admired and beasties were hunted down.

A short stroll took the kids on a journey past various types of plants that flower, seed, creep, climb, smell and host other critters.

After a brief instruction it was time to get down and dirty by helping revegetate a bare area with some plants that will be able to be monitored as they grow over the years. Everyone also got to see how water crystals expand before adding some to the planting hole to help hydrate during the dry days.

Both kids and carers took away new knowledge, and walking the foreshore bushland will never look the same again.
