As the 2018-2019 Gympie One Day Reserve Grade competition continues, Rainbow Beach Cricket Club is currently sitting top of the ladder, with a slight lead over Western Gympie. A forfeit win in round 2, bye in round 3, and a strong 46 run win over Harlequins in round 4 means Rainbow are in a brilliant position, come this point of the season.

Harlequins put up a decent fight in the field keeping Rainbow Beach down to only 155. The run chase began and an excellent bowling spell from Richie O’Donohue (3-16) and Andrew Simpson (2-19) meant none of the Harlequins batsman could get the run chase going. The win was confirmed when “Dazza” Timms took the important wicket of Slayter Murray (37) to wrap things up.

Round 5 unfortunately ended in a loss for Rainbow Beach as Gympie Wests bowled and fielded well enough, so only Andrew Simpson (49) could make an impact with the bat.

For anyone wishing to come along and support, games for this month are on December 1 and 15 in Gympie.
