Council helps pitch for community grants

If you are a community group seeking funds for a project that will benefit the Gympie Region, then come along to Council’s community assistance grant information session on 1 August to boost your chance of success.

Gympie Regional Council’s Mayor Mick Curran said the information session will feature guest speakers from Council, Bendigo Bank, the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and Cleanaway.

“We’ve listened to the community following previous information sessions and this year we are offering a variety of speakers to discuss what they are looking for when community groups apply for funding,” Cr Curran said.

“Funding is very competitive so we encourage interested applicants to plan, prepare and attend these valuable sessions.”
He said community groups can apply to council for community assistance funding for projects in these categories; capacity building, facilities development, events, and equipment.

The information session will be held on Tuesday 1 August from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at The Pavilion and interested applicants will be able to ask questions to representatives from each of the grant programs, learn new initiatives and network with other community organisations.

The next grant round for projects in all categories opens on 1 August and will close on 31 August.

Register your interest for catering purposes by Thursday 27 July at gympie.qld.gov.au/grants.

A separate information session for Regional Arts Development Funding will be held next Monday 24 July, 5.30pm – 6.30pm at the Gympie Regional Gallery.
